Lettered "103rd REG: P.V.", State Color. Composed of men from Clarion, Armstrong, Butler, Venango, Allegheny, Indiana, Adams, Franklin, Columbia, Northumberland, York, Perry, Crawford, Beaver, Westmoreland, Dauphin, Blair, and York counties, the 103rd Infantry organized during the fall of 1861. The regiment received their state color on February 26, 1862 from Governor Curtin. In the spring of 1864, the entire 103rd regiment, with the exception of Company C on duty elsewhere, was captured.
